We constantly strive to adopt an improved family centred approach for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. This means greater involvement from you and your child.
Pupils identified as requiring support additional to or different from their peers will have a Target Book shared between home and school. Prior to this book coming home, your child and their class teacher will have agreed upon targets in collaboration with each other and any evidence of meeting these will be documented in this book. This supports a bespoke approach to their learning and will take account of your child’s views and wishes to help them to achieve these.
The understanding is that this book will be kept in your child’s reading folder and brought to school and taken home every night, even if nothing has been added. This allows the book to be accessible to both school and home at all times.
We would like to ask you to contribute as much as possible to this. This will build up a portrait of your child and their journey of learning. This may be through photographs, examples of work, annotations, and links to ICT, etc. Please add to this as appropriate.
There will be a review of your child’s targets every term. This will involve a meeting between myself, you and your child’s class teacher. Your child may be invited to this review depending if age appropriate
However, if you have any queries or questions in the meantime please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your child’s class teacher or myself. I am available Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays via the school office if needed.
